ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - Family and friends gathered to show their support for two La Cueva High School cheerleaders badly hurt in a car crash last week.
Over a hundred people showed up Sunday night for a prayer vigil on the La Cueva Soccer Field in honor of Lilly Pickard and Jessica Sanchez.
The 16-year-old girls were ejected from the SUV they were riding in when it rolled near Paseo del Norte and Tramway Monday night. Neither girl was wearing a seat-belt.
Family members say all the support has really helped them through these tough times.
Pickard’s brother spoke at the vigil expressing his family’s appreciation to the community.
Pickard and Sanchez are said to be showing improvements each day but family says they still have a long road ahead of them.
