Sandoval Co. ballots to be impounded

BERNALILLO, N.M. (KRQE) - State Police are set to start impounding ballots from the general election in Sandoval County Friday.

There were only 15 ballot printers at five locations in Rio Rancho on Election Day.  This led to incredibly long lines and scores of voters giving up and going home.

Some Republicans think the lack of printers and locations was intention given how parts of Rio Rancho have a Republican majority.

Thursday a judge ordered that the ballots be impounded until election officials can sort through the problems.

Republicans are also requesting ballots in Dona Ana County be impounded because of a tie between Representative Terry McMillan and Democrat Joanne Ferrary.
