SANTA FE (AP) - The New Mexico Finance Authority has selected a former state budget director to serve as its interim CEO as the agency copes with fallout from a forged audit that's led to arrests for fraud.
The authority's governing board on Friday picked John Gasparich as the agency's top manager.
Gasparich was deputy secretary of the Department of Finance and Administration under former Gov. Gary Johnson and budget director for former Govs. Garrey Carruthers and Toney Anaya.
The board last week placed CEO Rick May on indefinite leave with pay. That came after authority Chief Operating Office John Duff and former controller Greg Campbell were arrested for fraud and other charges involving the fake financial statements.
Energy, Minerals and Natural Resources Deputy Secretary Brett Woods has been serving as acting CEO.
