SPAM cook-off names winner

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - New Mexico has named a new culinary spam specialist naming Caroline Barela Burgess as the winner of the Great American SPAM Cook-off.

Burgess' Spammalicious Coconut Curry Rice Balls beat out the competition with not only its taste but also its looks and creativity.

The SPAM specialty earned Burgess a $150 prize and a chance to enter the National SPAM competition.

Second place in the competition went to Scott Ciccarelli for his Green Chile SPAM Posole.
