ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - Firefighters were called out to a fire at a duplex in northeast Albuquerque near Washington and Menaul. They soon discovered an alleged drug operation inside the home.
Firefighters originally thought a meth lab may have caused the fire. When APD came out to investigate, they discovered it was a suspected mushroom grow.
Firefighters were originally called to the scene at 5:30 pm on Sunday.
Police say two of the tenants were being treated for smoke inhalation. Police say at that point the suspect of them could tell officers had stumbled on a suspected drug operation and fled the scene
Police say they have identified the suspect and are looking for him.
APD says they won’t release the name of the suspect until they have officially charged him.
