LAS VEGAS, N.M. (KRQE) - Las Vegas City School officials say they now know what caused the rotten-egg like odor at Memorial Middle School that plagued the school for a week.

The superintendent says a malfunctioning heater is to blame for the odor which prompted the school to evacuate two times in less than seven days earlier this month

Several students and staff members complained of burning eyes, stomach and headaches prompting an inspection of the school.

Officials now say the heater needs to be repaired and upgraded.
