ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - Former State Senator and Albuquerque City Councilman Eric Griego took to the national airwaves on the Dr Drew Show Wednesday.
Griego spoke about his nephew , Nehemiah Griego, who is accused of shooting and killing his parents and three youngest siblings Saturday.
Eric Griego’s brother and Nehemiah’s father, Greg, was amongst the victims.
While investigators say the teen confessed, his motive is still unclear. The Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Department said the teen told them he had anger issues and was annoyed with his mother.
The teen also allegedly talked a lot about video games , like “Call of Duty” and “Grand Theft Auto.”
This sparked a debate over the influence of those games and Eric Griego says too much focus has been put on the issued.
In regards to his nephews comments on the video games Griego says, "he mentioned it in passing. We have no idea if it's true. There's no evidence of it.”
Eric Griego went on to say his brother was strict about his son’s exposure to those types of violent video games.
The funeral service for the Griego family is set for Friday at 2:30 p.m. at Calvary Church.
