SANTA FE, N.M. (AP) - Court officials are asking the state Board of Finance for $1 million to furnish a new courthouse in Santa Fe after a larger amount of money was vetoed by Gov. Susana Martinez.
The governor serves as the board's president and appoints a majority of its members.
Judges and other workers in the 1st Judicial District hope to move into the courthouse early next year, but the question of who pays for furnishings must be resolved.
Court officials are to appear Monday before the board to seek money for furniture, security equipment, fixtures and computer equipment.
Santa Fe County financed construction of the courthouse, but court officials contend the state needs to furnish it.
The governor last month vetoed nearly $1.4 million the Legislature approved for courthouse furnishings.
