ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - Veteran Albuquerque radio talk show host Jim Villanucci no longer has a job.
Villanucci, host of the afternoon- and evening-drive slot on KKOB radio for the last 14 years, is no longer employed by the station.
His last day on the air was Thursday.
"I loved this job and for nearly 14 years my show was the highest-rated locally produced show in the market," Villanucci said in a statement released Friday. "That said, times change and for whatever reason my contract with Cumulus Media was not renewed nor was I offered an extension.”
Cumulus Media, which owns the station, says only that Villanucci was not fired and that his contract was not picked up when it expired.
Villanucci said he'll be taking a break while figuring out what to do next.
