ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - An iconic gathering place for sports fans in Albuquerque will be hosting its last toast later this month.

Coaches Sports Grill opened 15 years ago.

The owner says the lease is up, and he's decided it's time to close the bar.

Ernie Blackstone says it's not the economy, it's just time for a change.

He's actually been at the location in the 1400 block of Central Avenue SE since 1983 when he had Cafe Oceana.

The sports bar opened in 1997.

Blackstone has fond memories especially when Head Coach Dennis "Coach Fran" Franchione was at the helm of the Lobo football team.
