ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - New Mexicans flooded Albuquerque metropolitan area malls and department stores Friday morning to take advantage of deep Black Friday discounts.
"We actually got up at 1:30 this morning, we got out of the house at 2 O'clock and standing in line at 2:30, so we've been at it all day," shopper Gary Gomez said.
The manager of Coronado Center estimates that 100,000 shoppers packed the two story shopping center throughout the day Friday.
Coronado Center General Manager Randy Sanchez said the mall has seen an increase in the amount of shoppers this year.
Large window displays and signs were set up outside the stores to lure shoppers in.
Some stores were packed with shoppers and people waiting in line. Other shops were less chaotic.
Shoppers told News 13 they found good deals, long lines and that most people were polite.
"A little bit crazy, we didn't start out very early, we started out about 10 o'clock, my wife and I are here from out of town and we just wanted to spend time shopping with our family to see what they want," shopper Bryan Roybal said.
Sanchez said they did not have any reports of injuries or shopping-related scuffles at Coronado.
Kohl's Department Store off Paseo Del Norte was also very busy. The store manager said about 5,000 showed up.
