Five potentially dangerous railroad tank cars came off the tracks in Gallup Thursday morning but didn't roll over, New Mexico State Police reported.

Three of the cars on the BNSF Railway were described as petroleum cars while the other two are used to carry propane.

No injuries were reported in the 5:30 a.m. incident which occurred at the west end of the BNSF freight yard in Gallup.

Heavy equipment from Winslow, Ariz., and Belen was dispatched to put the cars back on the rails.

There was no official word on what caused the derailment.

Aerial video from KRQE News 13's Skyranger helicopter showed the string of cars jackknifed on parallel tracks and a connecting switch track. A section of rail also appeared to have been ripped from the ties.

Reporting marks on the tank cars indicated they were owned by Phillips Petroleum.
