Rail Runner stops waiting for 'runners'

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - Late passengers will be watching their Rail Runner Express train pull out of the station under a new policy that took effect Monday.

In the past trains--even those in motion with doors closed--have been known to stop and wait for people running down the platform. But no more, according to a statement from Rail Runner officials saying the extra stops have been affecting train schedules.

However on-board announcements have said trains can wait for late buses if passengers aboard the bus alert Rail Runner customer service at 1-866-795-RAIL (795-7245).

Also on Monday Rail Runner began testing its wireless Internet connection for passenger use. Use of the system is free during the 90-day testing phase.
