Rail Runner sees 3 millionth rider

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - The New Mexico Rail Runner tallied rider number 3 million on Monday.

The lucky rider was Maggie Ryan, who rides the commuter train from Santa Fe to Albuquerque every day.

Ryan found herself in the center of a celebration Monday morning at the Albuquerque Downtown Depot.

For being the 3 millionth rider, Ryan received a free pass for a year and a basket of Rail Runner souvenirs.

She said it's a safe and convenient way to travel the Interstate 25 corridor.

"I really value the rail runner it's made a huge difference in my commute and going to school, giving me an opportunity to get my graduate degree in a way that doesn't drive me crazy," Ryan said.

Ryan is a graduate student at the University of New Mexico.
