News veteran to lead State Fair parade

ALBUQUERQUE (AP) - Veteran ABC newsman Sam Donaldson will be the grand marshal of the 2010 New Mexico State Fair parade next month.

Donaldson has a ranch in Hondo in southern New Mexico.

This year's parade will be held on Sept. 11, and will include 226 entries and more than 4,300 participants.

It will leave the fairgrounds at 8:45 a.m. and will wind east on Albuquerque's Central Avenue for a little more than two miles.

Donaldson has extensive ties to New Mexico. He grew up on a cotton farm near Anthony in Doña Ana County and graduated from New Mexico Military Institute in Roswell.
