ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - A new company is moving into the building previously occupied by Schott Solar in the Mesa del Sol development.

McCune Solar Worksannounced it plans to rehire many of the former Schott employees.

The company specializes in design, research and development of innovative green products including solar panels.

They officially announced their move to the now vacant Mesa del Sol facility Monday.

The plan is to hire 130 employees with an average salary of $50,000.

It is not all 250 of the former Schott solar employees, but it is a lot of them.

The company is not only using Schott Solar's old facility, they will also build on some of Schott's products.

McCune Solar Works will continue production of the Schott designed solar modules, but under a new name "Hott Solar PV"

The CEO of the company says they will begin production early next year and hope to get up to full speed by October of 2013.

“This is not just about solar but about green technology renewable resources and intent to introduce many different products through this property and acquisition, we are in a race to reverse the effects of past decades of environmental abuse,” CEO of McCune Solar Works, Chuck McCune, said.

The company is currently working to design a new electric vehicle, one they say is much more affordable than the ones out there.
