ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - Google Street View has gone one step further in New Mexico giving web users a virtual tour of local businesses.
Photographer Stefan Chakerian, owner of Aperture Photography in Albuquerque, is bringing these pictures to life.
Chakerian spent much of his career in the field of computer science. He was laid off and decided it was time to embark on a new adventure.
That resulted in him opening up his own photography business.
He soon heard that Google was expanding its Street View program into business photos, where businesses can showcase themselves with a virtual tour at Google Places.
Web users can see the tour when they do a search of local businesses on Google.
Right now only a handful of businesses have signed up, but Chakerian is working on expanding the tours. He is able to create the tours with special equipment which gives people a 360-degree view of the inside of a business.
Chakerian gets paid by the businesses to photograph their building and then works with Google to get the tour incorporated into the web search.
