ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - Borders bookstore is seeking court approval to liquidate its 399 remaining stores after failing to receive any bids that would keep it in business.
The bookseller closed two of its six New Mexico stores in February when it shut down 200 stores nationwide.
Now the remaining four New Mexico stores will close.
Borders currently has over 10,000 employees.
The company joins the list of retailers that failed to adapt to consumers' changing shopping habits, including Circuit City, Mervyn's, and Linens `N Things.
Stores could begin closing as early as Friday.
