Denver flights could resume at SF airport

SANTA FE (AP) - Santa Fe's mayor says a regional airline's plans to resume direct flights to Denver it halted in 2007 will be a big benefit to the city.

Mayor David Coss said in his annual "state of the city" speech that Great Lakes Airlines plans to begin the twice-daily service soon. It also will provide direct flights between the state capitol and Clovis.

The Santa Fe New Mexican reports (http://bit.ly/QWxuZ9 ) that Tuesday's speech focused on the city's economic recovery and touted its declining unemployment rate. State figures show Santa Fe's unemployment rate is at 4.8 percent after hovering around 7 percent in 2009.

Coss also indirectly criticized Gov. Susana Martinez for her push to stop issuing drivers' licenses to illegal immigrants, saying that drives a wedge into the electorate.
