BERNALILLO, N.M. (KRQE) - Telephone customers in much of the Jemez Valley will lose service from midnight to 5 a.m. Thursday to allow repair work.

The outage will affect customers with number prefixes 834 and 829 in the La Cueva, Jemez and San Ysidro areas, according to a notice from the Sandoval County emergency manager. The notice did not explain the nature of the repairs.

Without phone service residents in the 829 prefix area will need to go to the main fire stations in either La Cueva or Jemez Springs which will be staffed during the outage. Residents in the 834 prefix area can go to the San Ysidro marshal's office adjacent to the main fire station.

Residents able to access a cell-phone signal will still be able to call 911 for emergencies.
