Emcore cutting 45 Albuquerque jobs

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - Albuquerque-based Emcore Corporation has slashed about 80 jobs company-wide including 45 positions at its local facility.

Emcore manufactures components for broadband, fiber optic, satellite and solar technologies.

The company said the cuts are necessary to help it withstand the economic downturn.

Emcore also said it hopes to expand operations when business conditions improve.
