ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - The fate of Eclipse Aviation will now be decided on Aug. 20, after a hearing Monday morning set a date for the bankruptcy sale.

The jetmaker shut down earlier this year, taking 800 jobs with it.

A new company called "Eclipse Aerospace" has put in a $40 million bid to buy what's left.

The company plans to start servicing existing jets first and then restart production later.

Trustees handling the Eclipse bankruptcy told KRQE News 13 Eclipse Aerospace bid for the defunct Albuquerque jetmaker was formally accept Monday morning by a federal bankruptcy judge in Delaware.

At that hearing the judge set a deadline of noon Friday Eastern time for any other bidders to submit their offers to the court.

If there is a second bid that equals Eclipse Aerospace offer, there will be an auction held Monday Aug. 17. If there are no additional bids the judge has scheduled a hearing for 3:30 p.m Eastern on Aug. 20 to finalize the sale of Eclipse.
