ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - Aspiring aviators flocked to the Albuquerque Sunport Sunday afternoon to learn more about a career path that would allow them to get paid for touching the sky.
Organizers prepared to handle more than 1,000 people at the event.
Everyone who came had the chance to sit in the cockpit of small planes and helicopters, while pilots explained the aircrafts.
Booths were also set up for visitors to pick up brochures and to talk to professionals about job opportunities.
"There's jobs in mapping, aerial mapping, fish and wildlife, who perform research from the air, there's just a lot of different avenues a person can take in aviation arena," Richard Preston of Del Sol Aviation said.
This is the first year of the aviation career fair. Organizers said they hope to make it an annual event.
