ALBUQUERQUE (AP) - Eclipse Aviation Corporation's chief executive says he's hopeful the company can obtain long-term financing after receiving European and U.S. certifications for its very light jet.
The company announced Friday that the European Aviation Safety Agency has certified the six-seat Eclipse 500 in 37 European countries.
And, Eclipse says the Federal Aviation Administration has certified an upgraded version of the jet's avionics system.
Eclipse CEO Roel Pieper calls the certifications a "major milestone."
He says the firm needs about $200 million that he hopes to obtain in the next few weeks.
Last week, the troubled company was late making payroll and sent employees home for two days.
Two U.S.-based aerospace analysts have forecast Eclipse will cease production in early 2009.
