ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - The Blue Bell Ice Cream is hiring local drivers to spread its products around northern New Mexico while T-Mobile is adding 40 technical positions to its Albuquerque center.

Both companies made their announcements on Monday.

Blue Bell , the No. 3-selling ice cream brand in the country, has been selling its products in southern New Mexico from its El Paso branch.

The company has now leased space at 2350 Aztec NW in Albuquerque for a product-transfer station with plans eventually to purchase land and build a facility designed for expansion.

The move will make Blue Bell's products available in stores in Albuquerque, Belen, Bernalillo, Grants, Los Lunas, Milan, Placitas, Rio Rancho, Santa Fe and Socorro.

A statement from the company cited using its own delivery fleet as a means of maintaining quality control. The statement did not include information on how many drivers were being hired and on how to apply for local positions.

Cell-phone company T-Mobile said it is now hiring more than 40 people for technical-support positions at its Technical Care center at 542 Jefferson NE in Albuquerque. The first training class is scheduled to begin March 8.

The company is encouraging applicants to submit resumes through the jobs section of the T-Mobile Web site . After completing the application process, applicants also will be given a 12-item questionnaire followed by a 45-minute assessment.
