Bendix King brings over 100 jobs to ABQ

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - More than 100 high paying jobs will open up in Albuquerque now that a major avionics company is moving its headquarters to the city.

Governor Martinez was on hand to welcome the city's newest corporate business.

Bendix King, part of the Honeywell Corporation, is moving its national headquarters to Albuquerque.

The company makes navigation and communication devices for small aircraft.

It will bring 140 jobs to Albuquerque by 2015.

Company President Kevin Gould says they chose Albuquerque from cities across the country because of its specialized work force, business friendly environment and great flying weather.

Governor Martinez says landing this contract is a prime example of the hard work done by the legislature in the last session.

Lawmakers increased the budget for a job training program for new companies by six times.

It also lowered taxes on some of the raw materials industries use to create their products to attract different types of industries to the state.

“As your governor I assure you, you have no greater business partner in anyone making sure we help you expand here and I as I have said in the last 15 months New Mexico is open for business,” Martinez said.

The company said it also chose Albuquerque because we already have a specialized workforce already trained in aviation.

Mayor Berry said avionics is the future industry of the city.

The company has already started hiring.

The annual salary for jobs ranges from $50,000 to $150,000.
