ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - The first step in Mayor R.J. Berry's plan to transform part of the Bosque in Albuquerque has been approved by the City Council.
On Monday night, the council unanimously approved an architectural consultant firm to create a plan which could draw more people to use one of Albuquerque's best natural resources. The architectural group, Dekker, Perich, Sabatini, is from Albuquerque and was recommended by the mayor. Part of the vision for the development includes adding restaurants and recreational businesses like kayaking.
Also approved at the meeting on Monday night was the mayor's recommendation of Wilson and Company for engineering services on completing a bike loop around the city. The bike loop project would connect existing bike paths into one making a 50 mile loop around the city.
The plan development for both projects will cost the city about $150,000 each. The mayor says they welcome input from all sides including the public on both projects.
