Crash kills motorcyclist on Central Ave

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - Central Avenue was closed for several hours at Rio Grande Boulevard SW Saturday morning as officers investigated a fatal motorcycle collision.

The closure from Rio Grande near Old Town west to New York Avenue near the ABQ BioPark lasted until early afternoon.

The collision involving the motorcyclist and a Cadillac happened shortly after 9 a.m.

According to a police report, the driver of the Cadillac, Erminio Gonzalez was pulling out onto Central Avenue when he collided with the motorcyclist.

Witnesses say it appeared that Gonzalez was attempting to leave the scene of the crash.

The motorcyclist has died as a result of his injuries.

Gonzalez has been charged with leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death and failure to render aid.

Police have not released the name of the victim.
