Boxing legend Johnny Tapia dead at 45

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - New Mexico boxing legend Johnny Tapia has died. He was just 45-years-old.
According to Albuquerque Police, officers were called out to his home Sunday evening, responding to reports that a man had been found dead.
A source close to the family confirmed that the man found was in fact Tapia.
Tapia was a five-time world boxing champion.
He has long battled a difficult and very public drug addiction, even spending some time in prison.
At this time it is unknown exactly how Tapia died.
APD says the cause of death will be determined after the Office of the Medical Investigator conducts an autopsy.
