ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - An Albuquerque police officer was recognized Friday for saving the life of a 2-day-old baby boy.
Back in November Officer Brian Pitzer heard a call over the radio about a newborn who was having trouble breathing.
When he arrived at the home a man ran out saying the boy stopped breathing.
Pitzer then dislodged something in the boy's throat, and paramedics arrived soon after and took him to the hospital.
"Pediatric doctors then confirmed to APD that the boy had indeed choked on baby formula and that he had made a full recovery thanks to the life-saving efforts of Officer Pitzer," Mayor Richard J. Berry said.
Pitzer was awarded the "Friday's Hero" coin from the mayor.
