ROSWELL, N.M. (KBIM-KRQE) - The New Mexico Military Institute in Roswell on Wednesday held its seventh annual breakfast honoring veterans and their families.

About 100 people from all military branches attended the Veterans Day breakfast and speech from the school's new superintendent, Maj. Gen. Gerry Grizzle.

Some of the veterans said they think the country is doing a better job honoring and taking care of veterans than ever before.

"I get all choked up when I think about it, the price that everybody has had to pay," said Henry Villareal, an Army veteran. "Some of us have had it easy, some of us had it really hard. But America now is finally beginning to appreciate what the armed forces have done for them."

Also in Roswell, Goddard High School planned a Veterans Day ceremony on Wednesday afternoon, and the city is planning a veterans' parade on Saturday down Main Street.
