ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - The Navajo Code Talkers now have a headquarters in Albuquerque.
The new location in Old Town will allow visitors to meet the Code Talkers in person and find books about their legacy.
The Code Talkers were an elite group of Marines who developed a code based on the Navajo language during World War II.
"It took us two months to memorize all that, put it in our head and use it in combat," Albert Smith said during the opening of the headquarters Wednesday.
That code was never broken and is credited with helping America win the war.
Only one of the original 29 Code Talkers is still alive. There are about 70 living members who joined later.
