Army officials are evaluating whether a Patriot missile successfully intercepted a Hera missile launched Thursday from the former Fort Wingate Army Depot near Gallup to White Sands Missile Range in southern New Mexico.
A spokesman for the Huntsville, Ala.-based Army Program Executive Office for Missiles and Space, Dan O'Boyle, says the office is still gathering information from the test range and others.
White Sands Missile Range spokeswoman Monte Marlin says the Hera launched at 6:29 a.m. MDT Thursday from northwestern New Mexico and its booster separated successfully.
She says two Advanced Patriot 2 missiles were launched from White Sands but says the Huntsville office must analyze the test to determine how successful the test was.
