Flags to be lowered for NM soldier

Soldier died in Afghanistan last week

SANTA FE (AP) - Flags are to be at half-staff in New Mexico on Monday and Tuesday in honor of a soldier from Albuquerque who died in Afghanistan last week.

Gov. Bill Richardson has ordered flags lower in honor of Army Pvt. Charles M. High IV, who was killed last Tuesday in Kunar Province. He was 21.

He was assigned to 1st Battalion, 327th Infantry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) from Fort Campbell, Ky.

High, who was born in Albuquerque, attended Albuquerque's Eldorado High School and New Mexico Military Institute in Roswell.

According to the governor's office, he joined the Army in June 2007 and served in Iraq in 2008.
