Fair: 5 more days, still tons to do

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - The 2009 New Mexico State Fair wraps up its 17-day run on Sunday, September 27, but there’s still plenty of time – and plenty of top-notch, once-a-year entertainment and attractions – to make 2009 a fair to remember.

And with more than 400 vendors, hundreds of exhibits, world-class galleries and countless other things to see and do, are literally thousands of reasons to visit the Fair again this year.

It’s been another banner year for live musical entertainment at the New Mexico State Fair, and once again, Tingley Coliseum will be the scene of a hand-picked roster of some of country music’s most popular and celebrated entertainers.

From raw country talent to pop-country superstars, the 2009 New Mexico State Fair will feature four more PRCA rodeo concerts starting Wednesday, September 23, with Julianne Hough, star of last season’s ABC hit “Dancing with the Stars.”

“Once again this year, we’ve seen stellar crowds at our concerts and rodeo-concerts,” said State Fair Commission Chairman Luke Otero, who also heads the entertainment committee for the Fair. “We’ve worked hard to book a broad spectrum of top-notch entertainers, and the result is one of the strongest lineups we’ve ever had in terms of award-winning new horizon country stars and longtime favorites.”

Other remaining PRCA Rodeo-Concerts include Billy Currington on Thursday, September 24; The Lost Trailers on Friday, September 25; and Chuck Wicks on Saturday, September 26. Last day of the 2009 State Fair is Sunday, September 27.
