ALBUQUERQUE (AP) - Competitive eater Joey Chestnut is now king of the burrito.

Chestnut, also known as "Jaws," downed 47 burritos in 10 minutes at the New Mexico State Fair in Albuquerque on Saturday, beating the previous record of 33½.

The burritos were stuffed with beef, beans and New Mexico's famous green chile. Chestnut, of San Jose, Calif., won $1,500 for the feat.

This was the second year for Garcia's World Burrito Eating Championship. The event is sanctioned by the Major League Eating & International Federation of Competitive Eating, the world body that oversees all international professional eating contests.

Chestnut is most known for his hot-dog eating. He won the annual July Fourth hot dog eating contest at New York's Coney Island for the fourth year in a row this summer.
