Albuquerque solar plant expands

ALBUQUERQUE (AP) - Less than nine months after starting its Albuquerque manufacturing plant, Schott Solar Inc. announced Thursday it has expanded production of photovoltaic panels after making 60 new hires.

The hires nearly double the number of technicians working for the company in New Mexico.

The additional employees will create a continuous production capacity at Schott's flagship facility in North America.

Most of the new positions are photovoltaic technicians. They'll bring the production line to full capacity by the end of December with 160 employees.

Schott Solar builds components for photovoltaic panels for businesses and homes and solar power plants.
