ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - Production of the movie "Due Date" will close the eastbound lanes of Interstate 40 at 98th Street NW overnight Wednesday detouring traffic to Central Avenue.

The closure starts at 10 p.m. and continues to 5 a.m. Thursday, according to the New Mexico Department of Transportation which approved the closure.

The detour will take I-40 traffic south on 98th Street to Central, east on Central to Unser Boulevard NW and north on Unser back to the freeway.

Traffic safety personnel and law enforcement officers will be stationed at the two Central Avenue intersection to help keep traffic moving, according to the DOT.

A similar closure on Interstate 25 southbound between Sunport and Rio Bravo canceled for Tuesday night and rescheduled to Thursday has again been canceled, the DOT said.

The DOT fielded numerous complaints last week when "Due Date" I-40 westbound on the west side of the city backed up traffic for miles. The movie production company said it cut its planned shoot in half after realizing the extent of the traffic trouble.
“Due Date” stars Robert Downey Jr. and Jamie Foxx and follows an anxious father rushing to see his child’s birth.
