ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - Albuquerque city officials are making their message loud and clear to a charter school that's been causing headaches for neighbors and police.
Tuesday morning, city officials, The Albuquerque Police Department, and the Albuquerque Fire Department talked to students at the Academy of Trades and Technology at 1718 Yale SE saying they must follow city-ordered changes, or the school could be shut down.
Police vow to keep a very close eye on the school. Last month, there was a brawl on campus where someone fired a gun. No one was hurt.
Our cameras weren't allowed inside, but officials told KRQE News 13 the students seemed to take the new rules seriously.
Albuquerque Chief Public Safety Officer Pete Dinelli said "The challenge was put on their back. They understand that they're the ones who are going to have to change their conduct and basically let's see if we can turn this around."
Last week the school signed an agreement with the city to keep students on campus during school hours, have a dress code, and security.
