ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - About 125 furry friends will be keeping their paws crossed, hoping for a new home this weekend as the Animal Humane of New Mexico will be hosting the Camp Adopt-a-Pet marathon beginning Friday.
The event will last 56 hours straight with workers from the AHNM on hand the entire time. Almost every type of dog and cat, of all ages will be available for adoption.
This is the second year the AHNM will be hosting the event. They will also be accepting donations from anyone who would like to stop by. Officials with AHNM say it costs $531 on average to care for each pet per year.
All pets adopted from Animal Humane have been spayed / neutered, health-checked, micro-chipped and vaccinated.
The event began at 9 a.m. Friday at the main AHNM center at 615 Virginia St. SE and ends at 6 p.m. Saturday.
