ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - With no winners for Wednesday’s $325 million Powerball Jackpot, the pot is inching closer to $500 million.

A Chevron gas station on Rio Grande and I-40 has seen steady Powerball sales all day Sunday.

One customer came in Sunday afternoon buying $100 worth of Powerball tickets.

“It’s just huge we noticed it earlier on the billboard,” Matt Anderson said. “If I won me and my wife would just use it to buy a house in Arizona,”

The Andersons are traveling from Nebraska and bought a ticket Sunday hoping to put a little extra cash in their pockets.

With no winners last week, this jackpot is a new record high.

Local stores say that's great for their business.

The next big drawing is Wednesday and they expect sales to pick up throughout the week.

It is not just locals trying to cash in.

“All the tourists passing by the freeway they are stopping her and they've noticed as well because the sign says $425 million,” gas station owner, Dan Alam, said.

The previous top Powerball prize was $365 million that was won back in 2006 by someone in Lincoln, Nebraska.

Depending on sales, the jackpot for the next drawing could go even higher than the estimated $425 million.

The odds of you winning are about one in 175 million.
