People always ask me how I like waking up at 2 am. Call me crazy, but I don’t mind it! I love getting my day started early and now, I have the privilege to help get New Mexicans ready for their day. I’m so excited to be back in the Land of Enchantment.
I’m a bilingual journalist who’s worked in news since the late 90’s. I started my career in Los Angeles as a news assistant. After that, I landed my first reporting and anchoring job in Roswell, New Mexico. From there, I went on to work in El Paso, Texas and Orlando, Florida as both an anchor and reporter. I’ve had the privilege of covering some of the biggest stories to make national headlines through the years. Those stories include natural disasters, space shuttle flights, presidential elections and entertainment news. During my stay in Florida, I also covered the infamous Casey and Caylee Anthony Case extensively.
I’m a California native who graduated from California State University, Long Beach with a degree in Broadcast Journalism.
I’ve been honored with several Society of Professional Journalists Awards and Associated Press Awards in Florida and New Mexico. I also contributed to a station Edward R. Murrow Award for Outstanding Breaking News Coverage in El Paso, TX. In 2010, I was honored by Latino Leadership Inc. as Outstanding Woman in Media.
I’m a member of the National Association of Hispanic Journalists.
I’m looking forward to getting back on the beautiful New Mexico ski slopes. I also enjoy cooking and spending time with good friends and family. If you have any good green chile recipes, please send them my way!
