I grew up in Oklahoma and Texas. Many of my family members are in radio and that's how I got my start.
I was a country DJ and began doing news for a radio station while I was working my way through college at Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau, MO. My first television job was as a weekend anchor/reporter at WPSD-TV in Paducah, Kentucky. I later became the 6 and 10 p.m. anchor at KFVS TV in Cape Girardeau, MO.
I moved to Albuquerque in 1989. I met and married Mark Mathis working in TV here (now he produces documentary films). We have two great kids who are in high school at La Cueva High School.
I love working at KRQE primarily because of my co-workers, the station's integrity and our loyal viewers. Our newsroom works as a team, trying to be the most accurate, trustworthy and in-depth in its reporting. I'm proud to be a part of that kind of commitment to our community and state.
