David Romero, KRQE News 13
This is my tenth year working news in my home state of New Mexico. It’s essential to me to have my career as a journalist here and KRQE News 13 has provided me an extraordinary opportunity to tell the stories of what’s happening and what’s important to the citizens in the Land of Enchantment.
I started out in college radio doing news as a morning disc jockey while going to the University of New Mexico. After receiving my degree in Broadcast Journalism in 2000 and while attending school, I worked in production at the PBS station KNME-TV. Working on various programs I learned how to and refined my skills in shooting video (something critical in my later jobs as a one-man-band reporter).
In 2002 I made the jump to news at the New Mexico Univision affiliate as a Photographer/Reporter.
I joined KRQE News 13 in September 2005 as a Photojournalist/Reporter and in March 2008 I became a full-time Reporter.
Outside of the world of news I mix my interests in music and video; photography has also always been another strong interest of mine. That’s the best thing about living in this part of the U.S., New Mexico and Colorado have some of the best landscapes - most of which I check out while traveling or camping. Throw in a few enchiladas, green chile and family; it’s why I’ve never left.
