After high school in Socorro, NM, I earned a bachelor's degree at Eastern New Mexico University in Portales. During college, I worked for the public television station, KENW-TV. ENMU is one of the few in the nation to offer broadcast students real-life, hands-on experience in news. We prepared and aired a 30-minute newscast every night.

I earned my pilot's license as a Civil Air Patrol cadet in high school and always felt that combining flying skills with training as a journalist would provide a rich career full of travel and new experiences. After 8,000 hours of flying helicopters, airplanes and balloons -- I have not been disappointed. I even slipped in 300 sport parachute jumps along the way.

Each week, we use our Sky News 13 helicopter to travel the entire southwest from Hobbs and Carlsbad to Raton, Farmington, Gallup, Lordsburg and everywhere in between. We even cover southern Colorado, eastern Arizona and southeastern Utah. The beauty and wonder of our part of America is inspiring. We also often use Sky News 13 to assist police and fire departments in times of civil emergencies.

I have also been fortunate enough to also travel the world on behalf of KRQE News 13. I was given the great privilege and honor of accompanying New Mexico troops into some of the many conflicts they have fought and are still fighting on our behalf. Iraq, Afghanistan, Kosovo, Panama and other hot spots are some of the places I have traveled to report on our troops. Following in the spirit of the great combat correspondent Ernie Pyle (who lived in Albuquerque a while) I have worked hard to tell the stories of our troops. Over a year of my life has been spent overseas with these brave men and women, and I consider that work to be my most rewarding.

It has also been inspiring to cover the work of great New Mexico scientists, adventurers and citizens who travel the globe for interesting reasons-- New Mexicans on expeditions and unique travels to places like Antarctica, Egypt, China, the Himalayas and Central America.

Today, in my spare time I enjoy photography, scuba diving, traveling and hiking. However, no matter where in the world I roam...there is no place like home, here in the Land of Enchantment.
