Alex Tomlin, KRQE News13
Moving to New Mexico has been an amazing experience. I love trying new things and taking on new challenges, and working at KRQE and living in Albuquerque have afforded me the opportunity to do both.
My family is split across the country, with my father’s side in Virginia and my mother’s in Texas. I graduated from West Texas A&M University in the spring of 2007, after just three short years. (Can you tell I am one of those over-achiever types?) I have a Bachelors of Arts in Mass Communications with an emphasis in Broadcasting. Go Buffs!
My first job was in the Texas Panhandle, in a small town called Amarillo; it’s only about four hours from Albuquerque. I was promoted quickly and ended up anchoring The Weekend Edition and The News at Noon. That first job allowed me to produce, report, anchor and edit my own pieces, making me a well rounded reporter because I had the opportunity to learn different jobs inside the newsroom.
I landed in Albuquerque in February of 2009, and couldn’t be happier. I enjoy working night-side and having the chance to learn from some of the greats in this market, including Dick Knipfing.
I enjoy cooking and spending time with my family. If you have something you think would make a good news story feel free to email me!
